Opinión de un comprador: This is a beautifully presented book. The binding is almost identical in colour and texture to the hessian hard binding of the initial release of 'Still'. I cannot believe that this is coincidental, but even if it is, to hold the book in one hand, and 'Still' in the other acts as a time machine, taking you back to 1980, and the life and death of Joy Division. The content of the book is powerful, and again, presented memorably. Beyond the interesting introductions by Deborah Curtis and Jon Savage, the first half of the book contains scans of IC's handwritten lyrics, opposite printed copy for clarity. The book's second section contains a wealth of scans of unused lyrics and individual compuesto. I found the whole book to be mesmerising, particularly as, some treinta y cinco years ago, I had rung Wilson at Granada and during the conversation I asked him where I could get hold of copies of IC's lyrics. After a few minutes talking about other things Wilson said, "those lyrics you want. .. They're not really available to anyone at all". He explained; "Ian writes them on bits of paper and keeps everything in plastic bags". I didn't take that seriously at the time, putting it down to typical Wilson-esque nonsense, but it's since been confirmed to be true many times in countless articles. To finally have a book of those lyrics, and so much more, after so many years, is a happy thing indeed. Credit to DC and JS. Thank you both.

Opinión de un comprador: I'm guessing anyone who's reading this opiniones is already a fan of Syd and doesn't need to be sold on buying a book of his lyrics so much as they need to find out how good a job this one makes of it. Hence our praise for Lora Findlay, who, in case you're wondering, is this book's designer, and what a great job she and the wider team at Omnibus Press have done. This beautiful artefact is that rarest of things, a rock-star book that genuinely honours its subject.
The lyrics of every one of Syd's songs (with the exception of "Golden Hair", which to be fair was written by James Joyce) are reproduced here, along with a fascinating selection of archive photos, an affectionate foreword by Syd's former mánager Peter Jenner, and an illuminating, erudite but unpretentious essay on the lyrics by Syd's best biographer, Rob Chapman.
So far, so good. But what a handsome job has been made of assembling this material. The cover is a gorgeous, purple paisley cloth-binding, with the purple maintained for the endpapers, which reproduce a painting of a tortoise (though we're probably all assuming it's a terrapin) by the teenage Syd. The paper stock is a pure, heavy white which vayas with an elegant font to show both the lyrics and introductory prose pieces to best advantage. A fin, telling detail: The font on the spine has an old-fashioned look to it, which means the book would look at home on a shelf next to vintage editions of the likes of Lear, Carroll and Grahame.
The book has clearly been made with great love of its subject by all involved, and it's simply lovely. It's got some pictures, some words to read and things to make it look good. I'd give it to you if I could, but I'm keeping it. You'll feel equally possessive should you buy a copy - and every Syd seguidor should.

Opinión de un comprador: I love this book. Sure, it's just lyrics, and not even a complete kit (there's no African Man for example - I can't for the life of me think why that might be). But the presentation, layout and production values are great, and the choice of lyrics chosen is quite inspired. There's the obvious classics, but a few that are more obscure too.
Highly recommended.

Opinión de un comprador: Existen imágenes de borradores de letras y otras curiosidades. Todavía he terminado de leerlo pero es emocionante. Yo soy más fan de Ciénaga McCartney que de los Beatles. X presunto, todo se encuentra en anglosajón. Es por si aquello implica una dificultad para alguien. Les encantará y calidad-importe, bastante buena.

Opinión de un comprador: Ferry's lyrics are all represented here by álbum as expected and there's a nice introduction from the man himself but it just feels a little 'budget'. For example there's a postage stamp sized image of each álbum preceeding each chapter but they look like they've been photocopied by someone on work experience and the toner needed replacing. Perhaps his fanáticos have come to expect a certain level of sophistication in Ferry's output that's not entirely evident here. Shame really.

Got it for Xmas present for next door neighbour who likes karaoke on the basis that it would have some recognisable song lyrics in it (especially given title of the book) but unfortunately that’s not the case. Neighbour was ill with COVID so only just given him the pressie but I’ve missed returns window also so won’t be able to get my money back either.
