Opinión de un comprador: This story is rather different to the others in the series because there is only 1 child case and a lot about Sabre's family. I found it very interesting, although a little predictable in the ámbitos of finance and anonymous charity work. However, it was all written in such a way that it kept me reading to find out what happened next. The case was harrowing, as frequently happens in Teresa's books, and was concluded satisfactorily. The remainder of the story is far from complete, with Sabre having new responsibilities and a bigger family. I'm looking forward to the next book!

Opinión de un comprador: I really am enjoying the advocate Series. Teresa Burrell is such a great writer. Saber Brown represents children who find themselves needing car and protection, often from their own parents. Drugs, thieving and all manner of bad happenings are everyday occurrences. Sabre is placed in an emotional situation. Minor client confidentiality means she cannot divulge information to help clear a colleague's name when he is arrested for murder. Very clever story lines. This book does not disappoint.

Opinión de un comprador: Private investigator, JP Torn, is woken by a young girl asking for his help. What is she holding back? He feels compelled to assist her but, in turn, needs help from his girl friend, attorney, Sabre.
Although this is the 10th book in the series, it’s the first one I’ve read. I was quickly drawn into the story, wanting to find out about JP’s family secrets going back to his childhood. There appear to be so many twists and turns in this case, but trust your intuition. .. .. Family relationships are so often highly complex.

Opinión de un comprador: It's been a while since I handed out a 5* opiniones - so here we go. Sabre is an attorney with a hand full of children's services cases on - and JP is a Private Investigator she works with. The book pretty much starts with Sabre's ex parte meeting with a judge (mentioned in the blurb) and has several storylines running through it at once, one for each of the cases she's working on.
One thing I liked was that when a chapter referred to a case - it started with a summary of the characters in the case and what had happened. Although you didn't need it once you got to about the halfway mark - it was really helpful in the beginning of the book.
There is minimal violence - most of the action being investigative work, meetings at family homes and court scenes.
The little niggles? I didn't like the name Sabre. Never heard of it (as a woman's name) and I constantly read it as Arma (the nearest my brain could compute to it). I found this annoying as I mentally kept correcting myself back to Sabre.
I also found the US child services / court system confusing. Just had to let it go and focus on the important parts of the plot.
And the last one - there was a scene towards the end where a woman is watching a man cook and there is quite a lot of description around him chopping and preparing stuff. I skipped the pages completely. I'm not a cooking fan and didn't feel that this scene added anything to the book. But that's a individual thing of mine - taking too long to talk about preparing or eating food just bores me.
Other than that - enjoyed the book, liked the characters and the twists in the story kept me engrossed (although I'd worked much of it out at about the setenta y cinco% mark). Would recommend.

Opinión de un comprador: A generally readable tale despite uneven story telling, shallow characterisation, a great deal of repetition and poor integration of sub-plots.
This vacillated between being a lengua, a courtroom melodrama, and a mystery thriller without fully satisfying in any genre.
Sabre, the main character, seemed also to have too many inconsistencies to make her believable in any role. She was a melting female, calm and controlled in the presence of a murdered friend, now and again a decisive attorney, frequently afraid for little reason, continually self-questioning in minor matters, often full of angst which manifested itself physically etc. Her emotional state suited the plot but often rang false.
Her concern over Betty and her guilt, or innocence, became a trial in itself as it was hammered into us.
The KKK family case seemed extraneous to the whole thing and didn't really add the colour to the Sabre character it ought to have done.
A curate's egg of a story but in places flowed along well enough to promise that the writer will later produce a more palatable whole.

Opinión de un comprador: The advocate is one of the greatest books I have read. It holds temor, heartbreak, passion and emotion within it's pages. An amazing story about a young advocate. She works tirelessly to protect children in dangerous situations. But one of her cases brings her into letal danger. A powerful book. Most Highly recommended.
